Alas, another close, but no banana effort last Sunday at the awards banquet for the Action on Film Festival, where JT (okay–I) got runner-up (strangely, the winner was seated at the same table I was at. I didn’t see his movie, but everyone at the table was cheering so apparently it was good.) The picture shown here is JT (okay–me) getting the AMC Heartland Narrative feature film award at the KC FilmFest a couple months ago (world premiere of AU PAIR, KANSAS.) Very happy to have the film get recognized at Action on Film. Best part of the whole festival, a guy came up to me and said he normally wouldn’t have watched a movie like AU PAIR, KANSAS, but that his girlfriend starred in the short that played before it, so he stayed and watched APK. He then told me he’d been going to film festivals for three years, and that AU PAIR, KANSAS was his favorite film he’d ever seen at a film festival! Who needs awards when you get reviews like that!
Will Au Pair Kansas be coming out on DVD at any point? I was at the screening in Durham, NC where the power went out halfway through and wasn’t able to make it back for a re-screening. I would really like to see the rest of the movie!
